We had booked the weekend off work to attend a bike rally in the midlands but the weather forecast in that area was not good so we decided to stay in Lincolnshire where the forecast was for sunshine and attended "Party in the Ark 2019", described on their website (https://partyintheark.co.uk/) as "a weekend of Live Music, Food, Drink and Family Fun raising money for Lincs Ark". The event started back in July 2007 with the mission to support the local charity Lincs Ark. Their website says "Over the 4 years we have grown to be the "micro Glastonbury" we are today. Our goal is to grow our annual event to provide more quality entertainment and family fun and raising more money for Lincs Ark". This sounded our type of event so a quick route check on off we rode.
We arrived about lunchtime on Friday 02/08/2019, met by friendly staff and directed to the camping area. We eagerly rode onto the camping area in search of our perfect spot. Our main criteria when choosing a spot to pitch our tent are flat ground, shade, not too close to the toilets but not too far from the music, bar or burger van, and of course a safe location to leave our beloved Goldwing and trailer. We soon found our perfect spot.
Once we had pitched our tent and got settled friendly staff came along for a chat and we paid our camping fee and made a little donation to Lincs Ark.
On the Friday after a swift pint we chose to have a chilled evening, sat by our tent and ordered a take away curry from a local resuarant in Kirton which was delivered to the venue quickly and we soon tucked in to curry and rice. Riding the wing always makes us hungry, not sure if this is due to the energy used is "defensive riding" or just down to the fresh Lincolnshire air. After our meal we enjoyed listening to a number of bands playing on site.
On the Saturday we awoke to a misty morning and knew the weather would be hot once the mist had lifted.
We attended the on site burger van and tucked in to the bikers staple breakfast of "breakfast in a bap" and were set up for the day.
Live music started at lunch time and continued until late. A number of bands and artists performed live throughout the day with a variety of genres to suit the music tastes of all.
All too fast darkness fell and the music ended for the day so we headed back to our tent for some sleep and to prepare for the part of any rally which we never look farward to - packing away our camping gear and heading home.
We awoke Sunday morning to full sunshine and high temperatures and began the task of packing away our camping gear. We were soon sweating in the heat of the mid day sun.
The event continued all day on Sunday until late but unfortunately we had to leave as Elaine has to work on the following Monday.
Friendly staff and event safety team on site throughout the event which is always appreciated.
The Skegness Goldwing Riders thoroughly recommend attending this event if you are a fan of live music and like supporting local charaties such as Lincs Ark and would like to thank all involved in the planning and running of the event, we thouroughly enjoyed ourselves and will definately attend the event again in the future.
